Eastern Medical College, Chittagong

Eastern Medical College, Chittagong is a private medical college, situated in Chittagong. The college was established in 2005. Eastern Medical College offers 5 years of Bachelors in Medicine, Bachelors in Surgery (MBBS) course, and the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), leading to the degree of the University of Chittagong and Chittagong Medical University, approve it. The aim of the college is to produce hardworking and competent surgeons, who will be able to serve the community honestly and ably. 
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MOHFW) permit the college. The college is enlisted with the International Medical Education Directory (IMED), FAIMER and AVICENNA. The college attracts a large number of local as well as international students, due to its affiliations, and due to the fact that the degree of the college is recognized all over the world. Special preference is given to the Asian Students, especially the Indian students, and the degree allows the Indian students to practice as doctors after appearing for FMGE test.

• Faculty of General Medicine (MBBS)

The college offers a five year course of study, approved by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), awarding MBBS degree. After completing the degree, the students are required to do compulsory one-year internship in the University hospital itself, to gain experience in practice. The internship is a prerequisite for obtaining registration from the BMDC to practice medicine. Though the college was established only a decade and a half ago, the college is quite famous and reputed due to the renowned faculties and course programs. The faculties are experienced, and the teaching staff is nationally repute. The college is equipped with a 600 bedded hospital (EMCH), with an excellent and well equipped clinical teaching faculty. The college has provided for a healthy learning environment with facilities like modern classrooms, labs, lecture halls with audio-visual inputs, etc. 

Accommodation

The college campus has adequate provisions for student accommodation. There are separate hostels for both male and female students. The hostels are well maintained and secured. The hostels have good facilities for bath and laundry. There is good maintenance of hygiene and sanitation in the hostel mess. There is availability of Indian food for the Indian students.

Student Life

The campus is secure and safe. The basic services are available within the campus itself. Constant attention has been paid by the university attention to create a friendly environment. The students are encouraged for extracurricular activities. The library is very good and it is under free Wi-Fi network. It is registered with the HINARI initiative of WHO, where both the students and the faculties have access to more than six thousand latest medical journals of the world. the university also pays attention on the communication with both students and parents. The foreign students can connect with their family members via Video Call booths. There are separate gyms in both hostels. ATM booth, cafeteria etc. is available and for electricity issue, generator is available for round the clock standby.
